Catcher in the Rye
The title Catcher in the Rye was referenced in the novel when Holden finally figured out what he wants to be in life. It is also reference when Holden sees the family and the little boy in the park. The little boy was singing a poem that said "If a body catch a body coming through the rye." It is also reference in the storying when he sees the harsh words on the wall of the school and museum. Holden means by wanting to be the "catcher" is that he wants to help kids when they are having a difficult time. This related to Allie because he was having a hard time with the death of Allie and also they way Allie dies. It related to Phoebe because he figures out that he wants to be the "catcher" when phoebe was on the carousel trying to get the ring. It also related to Phoebe because he wants to help his little sister stay on track.
Catcher in the Rye to Dead Poets Society
Holden is different from Todd because he was shy and followed the rules. Todd's conflict is different from Holden's because Holden is not trying to break out of his shell. Holden is like Charlie because he is rebel and not really worried about anything thats going on like school. Charlie's conflict i s the same as Holden's because they both get kicked out of their school for not caring about it. Holden is like Knox because he is trying to get a girl and so is Holden. Holden and Neil are different because holden doesn't care what his father thinks and not really into school, but Neil is trying to make his father happy and working hard in school. Neil's conflict is different then Holden's because Neil is trying to be in the theater program. Holden thinks that the theater programs have phonies in it. Holden is mostly like Charlie and different from the rest.
